FOOTBALL MATCHES: FORMAT/RULES/TIMES/PITCHES
Please read the Rules of the Festival below to ensure the event runs smoothly and on schedule.
PLEASE RESPECT ALL OUR REFEREES. This is not the World Cup, the players are children, the coaches are volunteers, the referees are only human. Please help us all to provide a safe and fun environment to enjoy the game. WE LOVE FOOTBALL 😍
Match Duration: 15 minutes, no half time. (There will be generally 5 min breaks between each match with some other breaks added in for scheduling purposes)
Squad Size: The matches are 5 a side but you are welcome to bring substitutes. We recommend a squad size of 7 max for each team. (If both Coaches agree, you may play 6 a side , but please inform the Ref first.)
PITCHES:
We have 8 pitches in total (Pitches 1-4 on the main ATFC ground and Pitches 5-8 on the Training Ground)
Refer to Pitch Location Map below.
All matches commence and end with the sound of a horn.
The first set of matches commence at 9.30am.
There will be a LUNCH BREAK at 12.30 - 13.00pm (Music entertainment by the terrace, come and support)
Matches will start promptly regardless of whether both teams are ready to play, so please check your kick-off times and pitch numbers carefully to ensure all players are ready to start on time.
Coaches: Please familiarise yourselves with this Tounify App to ensure you know when and where your teams are scheduled to play using the "My Team" or "Schedule" tabs. You can also see how your team is performing in the group using the "Standings" tab.
All matches will commence from the centre of the pitch, marked by a spot (centre spot).
Restarts after a goal will commence from the centre spot.
Rolling subs can be made throughout the tournament, with the ref’s approval.
Substitutions: can be made whenever the ball goes dead or out of play.
In line with small-sided game laws, there are no offsides.
All age groups will be applying the half pitch retreat rule where the team defending a goal kick must move back to the half way line and then may not engage until the goal kick has been taken.
Goalkeepers/players may take the goal kick before a team retreats, should they wish to do so however, the opposition can then engage from wherever they may be on the pitch.
All goal kicks are to be taken from either side of the goal.
A “D” will be marked out on all pitches to highlight the penalty area.
Goalkeepers may only handle the ball inside the D but are allowed outside the D during gameplay.
We will be applying a free roaming rule throughout the tournament – this means all players including goalkeepers will be allowed in/out/score/defend inside both their own and opposing teams D.
Goalkeepers: All age groups can drop kick/volley the ball from their hands.
Goalkeepers in all age groups may strike the ball from the floor, however, once the ball has been placed on the ground it then becomes “live” – this only applies when the ball is still in play (goal kicks are considered “dead” ball).
All pitch sizes are the same for all age groups.
All other laws of the game, for example corners, throw-ins and indirect/direct free kicks, will apply.
At any set piece, all defending team players must be a minimum of 2m away from the ball.
Referees are encouraged to use their discretion and manage the games according to the age group.
Group Winners will be asked to the Medal Area to receive their Winners Medals and have their Photo taken.🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
Please encourage all players, parents, spectators and coaches to respect the referee’s decision and emphasis the FAs RESPECT campaign.
ALL OUR WELCOME TO COME ALONG AND HELP CREATE A FANTASTIC ATMOSPHERE.
